A ROCKWELL Green resident and author is due to release the second book in his popular adventure series at the end of the month.

Marc Bright, 38, author of the successful debut novel Eternal Tides, will release his second book, Shadows of Destiny, on October 23.

The newest story is set two years after the events of Eternal Tides, starring the lauded protagonist Ethan Forde who is drawn back into the world of adventure when a former associate asks him to steal a golden spyglass tied to Napoleon Bonaparte’s Chief of Staff, Louis-Alexandre Berthier.

Ethan’s journey takes him across the globe, from France to Germany and Syria and even the town of Wellington features as a key part of the tale.

Marc said: “In Shadows of Destiny, the central relic is the Spear of Destiny, the lance said to have been used by the Roman Centurion Longinus to pierce Christ's side during the crucifixion.

“Without giving away too much, the story’s climax ties in with our hometown of Wellington, where one of its most famous landmarks may hold the key to the Spear’s hidden secrets.”

Marc was born in Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, and has lived in Wellington his entire life.

He now lives with his wife Emma and son Harrison who currently attends Court Fields School, the author’s alma mater.

Marc published his first novel in November 2023 after it was picked up by Blossom Spring Publishing, the Manchester-based publishing house founded in 2015.

He said: “Writing has always been a passion of mine, ever since I was young.

“When the pandemic hit a few years ago, it made me realise how unpredictable life can be, and I decided it was time to finally pursue my ambition of becoming an author.

“My goal is to transport readers into the story, making them feel as though they’re experiencing the adventure right alongside the characters, creating a story that is both captivating and memorable.

“It’s been an exciting journey as a new author trying to build an audience.”

The book is now available to pre-order on Amazon and other online retailers.
