WELLINGTON residents say they will add festive decorations to the sinkhole that appeared on their road in early June this Christmas

Locals have taken to Facebook to express their discontent with the unresolved issue, with suggestions to decorate the fenced off area that will likely remain in place for foreseeable future.

The crater, which emerged after Parkland Road’s surface gave way and collapsed, was condoned off with cones and barriers by Somerset Council on Monday, June 3, for repairs that week.

Having appeared five months ago, plans to reinstate the “carriageway void” to surface level were due to take place in the week commencing Monday, October 28 but have not been undertaken and signage reporting the repairs have since been removed.

Despite the unresolved issue, the planning site causeway one.network shows no indication of future planned works for the sinkhole on Parkland’s Road.
