THE story of the first 187 years of Wellington School will be told later this month by one of its former teachers and archivist, James Bradnock.

Mr Bradnock will give a talk on the school’s foundation in 1837 and take people through to the present day, where it has grown from a small local establishment with a few dozen pupils to one thriving with about 900 students.

However, its growth has not always been smooth and it twice nearly collapsed.

The talk will be at 7.30pm on Thursday, November 28, in Wellington Prep School Hall, South Street.

Entry is £3 for members of Wellington Local History and Museum Society, which has organised the event, and £4 for visitors.
