A NEW committee is being formed to take over the organising of the annual Uffculme Show and Country Fayre this year.
The event, which is hosted just outside the Culm Valley village at Bridwell Park, has been run for many years by members of the Exe Valley Rotary Club.
Now, Rotary has handed over the responsibility to the local community and volunteers are being recruited to take it on.
A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 25, at 7.30 pm in Magelake, where team members will be recruited.
A Rotary spokesperson said: “Over the last few years, some locals have helped to put the event together.
“So, a start has already been made by a small steering committee who have formed the new Uffculme Show Association (USA).
“A constitution has been adopted, and plans are being drawn up to organise the 2025 event which will take place at Bridwell on Sunday, August 31.
“The aim will be to raise as much money as it can to put into deserving community projects in our local area.”
The steering committee includes chairman Chris Coopey, treasurer Jim Clancy, secretary Becky Campbell, with Martin King, Tara King, Tony Lindsell, Gordon Milne, and Colin Ward.
A committee spokesperson said: “Over the coming weeks and months, we will be looking to gather a willing group of helpers to get involved to make the 2025 event a show to remember.
“We will need all kinds of volunteers, from those who can help with the organisation of the event, to those that will help in the run up and on the day.
“We will soon have a new website up and running as well as a Facebook page to spread the word.
“Our thanks go to Exe Valley Rotary for their organisation and generosity in putting the show together for so many years.”
