POLICE arrested a man and seized £50,000 cash when they carried out a drugs bust on a house in Wellington last week.
The officers from the Wellington neighbourhood policing team executed a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at 9 am on Wednesday (July 31) at an address in the Rockwell Green area.
They were backed up by members of Avon and Somerset Constabulary’s operational support team, who specialise in searching properties and making ‘dynamic entry’.
The cash found at the address was suspected to be the proceeds of crime, and the officers also seized quantities of suspected class A and class B drugs from the property.
A man aged 21 years was arrested for a number of alleged offences, including being in possession of class A and class B drugs.
He was later released under investigation while inquiries were ongoing.
More than a thousand 50g pouches of tobacco were also seized in the raid, which will be reviewed by trading standards officers as part of the ongoing investigation.
A police spokesperson said: “If you suspect anybody of being involved in drug dealing, or drug use, please contact us on our non-emergency line 101, via our website, or by speaking with your local neighbourhood policing team.”
Wellington Police Station’s inquiry office is open from 10 am to 2 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
The neighbourhood policing team can also be contacted via social media accounts, and officers can also be stopped while they are out on patrol.
