A POLICE investigation has been launched after a 'road rage' incident in Wellington High Street.

A male pedestrian was reported to smash a car window, outside The Mount Salon, before becoming in physical confrontation with the driver of the vehicle.

The alleged attacker remains at large, after making off on foot from the scene through Lancer Court.

Officers have now appealed for the public to assist with their investigation. In a statement a spokesperson said:

"We were called shortly after 4.20pm on Friday 17 November to a report of a man headbutting another man and a car window being smashed in High Street, Wellington.

“Inquiries into the incident continue. If you have any information which could help the investigation, call 101 and quote reference 5223281458.”
