A WELLINGTON man alleged to have burgled a town jeweller’s shop twice on the same night is to face a jury in three months’ time.
Steven Troake, 42, of Quantock Road, pleaded guilty at Taunton Crown Court on Monday to burglary and stealing watches at Joseph Welch at about 6.21am on December 2, and to producing cannabis between November 17 and December 3.
But he denied committing an earlier burglary – at 3.30am on December 2 – and stealing property and the case was adjourned to a one-day trial on April 26. Troake was given bail.
Judge David Ticehurst told him he would get a lighter sentence if he pleaded guilty, but ‘will not receive the maximum discount as you would have earned if you had pleaded guilty today’.
