A LOCAL country music club has helped raised more than £1,600 for a good cause.
Lonestar Country Music Club presented Children’s Hospice South West with a cheque for £1,651.
The donation was a joint effort between country the music club, and the Bulford Senior Citizen’s Club.
The money was raised by a number of events and a monthly raffle held at the West Buckland Village Hall, and by funds collected at the funeral of Laurie Dewar, the late husband of Lonestar club member Freda.
Announcing the news, Mrs Dewar, who runs the club, said: “The club was pleased to present Children’s Hospice South West with £1651.35 on Friday, February 16 at the West Buckland Village Hall.
“I spent much of last year in hospital, so this is also a ‘thank you’ to the ladies and gentlemen that have run the events during this time and especially for their continued support over the last year. This has enabled the events to keep going and continue to raise funds for Children's Hospice South West.”
