LANGFORD Budville Church of England Primary School held a successful Christmas Fair on Saturday, December 7, despite challenging weather amid Storm Darragh.

The festive fair was the school’s first since headteacher Jonathan Moise-Souch took post with his new team.

With lots of external stall holders exhibiting and the school's own children leading stalls, many people braved the weather to enjoy different festive treats and beautiful Christmas-themed gifts created by the talented pupils.

The children were able to experience hands-on practical experience of designing and creating their own products and then being able to sell them to the public. A particular favourite with the public was the festive scented candle. Many attendees also purchased a new bird box for their garden as a welcome retreat for their garden birds.

Craft stallholders, Jill and Jeff, who had travelled from South Molton, were full of praise for the event.

They said: “This was certainly one of the nicest Christmas fairs we have attended in the last few years.

“The children and staff here are so friendly, and it was wonderful to see how the local community and school can work so well together to improve the opportunities at the school.”

A parent commented: “We are so pleased with how the school provides such wonderful opportunities for our children, such as being able to run their own fair stall. The forest school here is also incredible, and we love how the children can really have an impact on their local surroundings.”

With such success, the children raised much-needed funds to help support on-going experiences such as their upcoming residentials in the Spring. The Christmas fair was one of many different community engagement events lined up this year. The school look forward to hosting bingo in the spring and a May Fair later on.

Mr Moise-Souch said: “It is so lovely how the school is becoming a place of choice again for families wanting the best for their children. It gives me great pleasure to see how the school is continuing to grow and that's all down to the wonderful support of my incredible team and our local community.”
