THE family of the man who was injured after a fall in Wellington Park are searching for answers after their father’s £1.6k hearing aids were lost.
The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (DSAA) and South West Ambulance Service attended Wellington Park - which adjoins the recreation ground - on Friday, April 4, after Brian Hillier, aged 93, suffered injuries from a heavy fall.
At the scene, Mr Hillier was cared for by DSAA’s critical care team, which comprises a consultant grade doctor and a specialist practitioner. The accident, which happened shortly after 2pm, left Mr Hillier “black and blue” say his family.
Mr Hillier was then transported to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton by the land ambulance service where he still being treated, having broken several bones in his face.
The family are now finding that information about the accident is limited, and Mr Hillier has no memory of his fall, or subsequently losing his £1.6k hearing aids.
With the help of the public, two of his children, John Hillier and Shirley Hays, are hoping to piece the story together, thank those that helped transport their father to safety, and locate the lost devices.
Shirley said: “We would like the opportunity to say thank you to whoever helped our dad, particularly to the person who called the ambulance in the first place.
“We’re trying to find anybody who may know what happened so we can piece it together and hopefully find his hearing aids.”
“He has a fallback pair from the NHS that he’s currently using but it would be good to find his old pair.”
