WEST Buckland residents say they are “rattled” after several caravans appeared on the village’s playing field overnight on Tuesday (April 8).

A local resident, who has chosen to remain anonymous, has said that up to nine caravans are now parked on the site which is located off Silver Street.

The resident said: “This is this first time this has happened in our village

“It’s rattled a lot of people. It’s like someone coming and parking in your front garden.”

Avon and Somerset Police told the Wellington Weekly News: “We are aware of an unauthorised encampment established on West Buckland Playing Field on Tuesday evening (8 April).

“Officers are in contact with West Buckland Parish Council and have also spoken to members of the group.”
