WELLINGTON’s Repair Café is returning in September to continue its mission to promote sustainability and reduce household waste.
The café brings together a group of volunteer repairers who generously donate their time and expertise to help residents fix their broken items.
Trades available for fixing items include electrical, sewing/textiles, sharpening, jewellery repair, bookbinding, sewing machine repair, clocks and computers.
People can also bring along items with a zip that need renewing, the café just asks that you bring a new zip with you.
The café asks that you unpick any sewing jobs at home first. If this isn't done, it takes the sewing ladies a long time and they won't be able to mend as many items during the session.
The repair café offers a welcoming environment where people can bring along any household items, gadgets, or personal belongings that need mending.
Whether it’s a faulty toaster, a torn piece of clothing, or a broken chair, the skilled volunteers are on hand to assist with repairs, giving new life to items that might otherwise end up in landfill.
The repair café will be held on September 7, 2024 at the Scout Hall, Fore Street between 10am, to 12.30pm.
