WESTPARK 26 on the edge of Wellington is set for further expansion now planning permission has been granted for 16 brand new commercial units.

The new energy-efficient business units are expected to offer excellent opportunities for new or expanding businesses to join a growing retail park, according to Summerfield Commercials, the firm behind the upgrade.

The units at plot 19 range from 1,750sq ft to 30,000sq ft and could be suitable for a range of users on the 40-acre business park at Chelston, on the outskirts of Wellington.

Westpark currently boasts food production, distribution and engineering business, fitness companies, trade counters, and scientific laboratories. Each unit is designed with flexibility in mind and owners and tenants have the option to combine spaces by omitting dividing walls, add mezzanine floors or create office space to suit their specific needs.

MK Test Systems currently occupies ATE House at Westpark 26. Jason Evans, managing director at MK Test Systems, said: “We relocated to ATE House on Westpark in 2018 and Summerfield Commercial installed our mezzanine to create our office space.

“Westpark 26 is our global headquarters. All our departments operate from this main hub, and provide support to our regional hubs in the US and Hong Kong. The flexibility of the business park also allowed us to house our innovation centre adjacent to ATE House, where we have an extensive and modern research and design lab as well as our dedicated customer demo area.”

Each new unit boasts high energy efficiency with an EPC A rating, solar panels, and the option to add EV charging points. These features not only reduce a business’s carbon footprint but will also lower overall energy and operating costs.

P&M Roofing Supplies Ltd currently occupies units at Westpark 26 and have been tenants since 2018. Paul Bishop said: “The units at Westpark offered flexible space for us; Summerfield Commercial were easy to deal with and adaptable, they left a party wall out of the space which allowed us to store large materials. The location is great for our clients and overall, the business park is very accessible.”
