MILVERTON Church will host a candlelit concert with trumpeter Aaron Azunda Akugbo and pianist Zeynep Özsuca on Saturday, March 8.
Hosted by the Milverton Concert Society, the upcoming concert is set to include a range of works, from artists such as Vivaldi to Hubeau to Mahler, starting at 7.30pm.
Pianist Zeynep Özsuca has performed worldwide as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist. The concert pianist is no stranger to the area, having performed with Jess Gillam in the Society's memorable concert in 2023.
She has worked as a repetiteur and orchestra member with renowned opera companies and orchestras like London Symphony Orchestra and Berlin Philharmonic, with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Sir Simon Rattle and Sir Antonio Pappano.
The musician also regularly appears in concert with her duo partners saxophonist Jess Gillam, clarinetist Sacha Rattle and trumpeter Aaron Akugbo, as well as her wind and piano sextet Berlin Counterpoint.
Aaron, 26, can often be seen freelancing in the principal chars of some of the most prestigious orchestras in the UK, including the Phillharmonia, BBC Phillharmonic and BBC Symphony. He recently had sell-out performances at the BBC Proms and the Wigmore Hall in London.
Citing Louis Armstrong as his greatest musical influence, this charismatic musician will be performing an eclectic mix of works spanning centuries and continents, from familiar names such as Vivaldi and Mahler combined with new treats to discover from Florence Price, Eugene Bozza and Jean Francaix.
A representative of the Milverton Concert Society said: “Aaron is a charismatic performer with an abundance of natural humour and an effortless engagement with people and audiences.”
