ART teacher Claire Western has expanded her practice to teach from the renovated Wellington venue Eliza House, Fore Street.

More than 250 people have attended one of Claire Western’s adult art classes since she began teaching in 2019.

To meet increased demand, Claire is bringing fellow artist Clare Schmidt Norris on board in the new year to expand the range and content of courses on offer.

Claire Western, herself an established painter, says she is amazed and delighted at the seemingly endless appetite in the area for her classes in drawing, painting, printmaking and a variety of mixed media work.

She added: “It is tremendously exciting and rewarding running these tutored courses for adults.

“My small, informal sessions are aimed at every artist, from complete novices or those who have done no artwork for years to very accomplished professionals who want to broaden their experience. I aim to increase knowledge and confidence, offering ways of working which liberate people from stale ideas and practice.”
