FORMER Royal Marines musician Charlotte Stus will be giving a talk in St Andrew’s Church, Wiveliscombe, next week.

Hosted by the Wiveliscombe Civic and Historical Society, Charlotte will share her experience of serving in the Royal Marines for 22 years and playing as a top-flight professional musician in a supreme military band.

Her career in HM Royal Marine Band has taken Charlotte around the world, from helping to deliver “soft power” diplomacy to helicoptering in to play to the troops in areas of conflict.

Her fondest memories are of performing on state occasions for our Royal Family - she marched along The Mall 15 times – and of entertaining packed public audiences at The Royal Albert Hall. Alongside all this, she was training for and maintaining her military role providing medical support in times of international conflict and national crisis.

Since her retirement in September this year, Charlotte has embarked on a new career of teaching music to young people.

The talk will take place on Thursday, December 19 at 7.30pm at St Andrew’s Church Wiveliscombe.

Tickets can be bought at the door for £5, and members go free. Seasonal refreshments will be available.
