FERNE Animal Sanctuary’s popular ‘pet celebration’ event returns this weekend and marks the start of February half-term.
The rescue and rehoming charity will host the event at its 72-acre base in the Blackdown Hills, near Chard, from 10am until 4pm on Sunday, February 16.
Falling in the same week as Love Your Pet Day, the sanctuary promises a fun day out for the whole family.
The day will provide visitors with exclusive access to the sanctuary’s site, including a picturesque four-mile social dog walk at 11am to The Cotley Inn, as well as plenty of activities for all ages.
Kevan Hodges, chief executive officer at Ferne Animal Sanctuary, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming visitors back to our pet celebration event this year.”
For the first time, the pet celebration event will host Allwinds - a dog first aid organisation - to run a dog first aid training course in the conference room for dog parents and professionals alike to learn life-saving skills. At £48 per person, the course includes key preventative knowledge and vital emergency actions around CPR, bleeding, heatstroke and more.
Local business Beautiful Monsters Pet Photography will be holding a professional pet photoshoot located in the sanctuary’s former Nina’s Café building during the Pet Celebration event. The 45-minute sessions are available to prebook for a discounted price of £50 - with all profits going straight back to the sanctuary.
A range of fun activities such as animal-themed arts and crafts in Creative Corner, as well as a pet photo competition for the chance to win a prize, will be open to children.
Ferne Animal Sanctuary is offering attendees a reduced entry fee of £5 per adult and £1 per child via the sanctuary’s visitor centre on the day of the event.
