STUDENTS from Court Fields School have come together to raise funds for Reminiscence Learning, a local charity dedicated to supporting individuals with dementia across the country.
Through their fundraising campaign, Court Fields students achieved a total of £825 to support the work of Reminiscence Learning, raising essential operational funds and increasing awareness about the challenges faced by those living with dementia.
Founded in Wellington in 2001 by occupational therapist Fiona Mahoney, the multi-award-winning charity specialises in dementia care, activity and “reminiscence” through activity sessions and workshops.
Mrs Westwood, assistant head at Court Fields School, emphasised the importance of supporting local charities.
She said: “It’s crucial that we come together as a community to support organisations like Reminiscence Learning.
“Their work makes a real difference in the lives of so many people, and it’s wonderful to see our students contributing to such a worthy cause.”
Nicola, a senior prefect at Court Fields, said: “Raising awareness about dementia is essential. It affects not just the individuals diagnosed, but also their families and friends.
“By supporting Reminiscence Learning, we are helping to ensure that those affected receive the care and support they need.”
A representative from Reminiscence Learning said: “Reminiscence Learning are absolutely gobsmacked to receive such an incredibly generous total from Court Fields staff and students.
“This will allow for fundamental enhancements to our local community services, giving us chance to continue our face-to-face carers support and signposting groups, book a wide variety of musical entertainment at our community sessions and supplement the ongoing costs of our art therapy, creative outdoors programme and our sporting reminiscence sessions, to name but a few.
“We cherish the links we have with our local schools and businesses, working alongside all age groups to make Wellington a fully dementia inclusive town.
“In line with the Court Fields School values of ‘Achieve, Belong, Participate’ we will use this £825 donation to progress and grow the supportive community that Wellington offers its residents living with dementia.
“We cannot thank the staff and pupils at Court Fields School enough for their amazing efforts.”
