WIVELISCOMBE fire services attended a blazing property fire in Glastonbury on Saturday (January 4) after a suspected arson attack.

According to Devon and Somerset Fire Services, the cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate.

Fire control received multiple calls in the early hours of Saturday reporting a property on fire in Glastonbury.

Crews from Glastonbury, Street and Wells were mobilised at 1.22am to attend to a well-established fire at a derelict farmhouse on Cinnamon Lane.

The top floor was fully alight upon arrival and the crews in attendance requested further support from two additional fire engines which were mobilised from Shepton mallet, including the Command Support Unit from Wiveliscombe. The police also attended the scene, implementing a road closure.

Due to the fire, the property’s roof collapse involving a number of solar panels.

No one was inside the building at the time of the incident.
