WELLINGTON Town suffered a big defeat on the opening day of the U14 Division 2 season away at Minehead Youth.
Played in atrocious conditions, Town struggled to keep pace with the opposition throughout the early stages and found themselves behind on 14 minutes. Minehead doubled their lead shortly afterwards, before again finding the net on the stroke of half time to go 3-0 up at the break.
The home team continued to dominate both territory and possession in the second half, and while Welly did pull a goal back in the 50th minute through striker Fletcher Langley, it was Minehead who finished the strongest to run out worthy 8-1 winners.
