FOR the second successive home game, Wellington gained a thrilling 40-38 victory over Wadebridge Camels in Regional Two South West.
The Cornish side appeared to be heading for a win as they built up a 38-19 lead - with only 20 minutes of the game remaining.
But Wellington hit back with tries by Will Hodgson and Josh Mynett, which were both converted by scrum half Mikey Taylor who then turned match-winner by scoring a five-pointer himself which he also converted.
However, with only seconds of the game remaining, Wadebridge were awarded a kickable penalty - but Owen Wilson missed, much to the delight of the home crowd. It was the final action of a memorable game.
Wellington led 14-5 at one stage in the first half with tries by Josh Hancock and George Hodgson, both of which were converted by Taylor.
And although Wellington snapped up another try through Johnny Clist to go 19-17 up, the visitors went back in front to lead 24-19 at half time.
As they surged ahead to go 19 points clear in the second half, it looked very much as though Wadebridge would go on to win the match.
But Wellington, whose side showed several changes following the defeat at Newton Abbot, once again showed their fighting spirit.
