WELLINGON RFC U12s travelled to Chew Valley for a tournament on Easter Sunday. First up were Old Redcliffians. This was a very hard match with Old Reds very big and physical. It was 4-0 at halftime to Old Reds as Wellington appeared to still be on the journey to the match. But in the second half Wellington were much improved and gave their all.
Travis Gill, Rex Eland and Kingston Sharland were all getting stuck in. It finished 4-0 to Old Reds.
Second up were Epping Upper Clapton RFC. Epping were a good team and had Wellington under lots of pressure but resolute defence kept them at bay with Will Sellick, Will Marley and Charlie Cooper all tackling well as they would all day. Will Sellick scored for Wellington and they thought this was enough but with the final play Epping scored to level it.
Next up were Brockworth RFC and this proved to be Wellington’s only win as they ran out winners by 3 tries to nil, scoring tries through Jayden Basson, Charlie Porcas and Will Marley. They went on to play Bugbrooke, losing 2-1. and finally Ferndale, drawing. The parents voted for Will Sellick as their player of the tournament
