WELLINGTON Tigers were second in the Exeter and District Over 60s Bowls League going into their match at home against Crediton B - and they gained a convincing victory to boost their hopes of promotion.

If they were to move up a division they had to do well, and they did very well!

Roger Murphy, Dave Beaudet and Bill Warnett had a close game to begin with but they picked up an all important five shots in the 17th end and moved ahead to win comfortably 20 shots to 13.

On the next rink, Mike Connor, Eddie Dilley and Tony Gibson also had a tight game but they pulled ahead later in the game for a good win by 14 shots to 7.

When the last bowl had been bowled the overall score was 34 shots to Wellington Tigers, 20 to the Crediton side, which was very cheering for Wellington because it gave them eight very important league points.

The league is not yet over. There are still a couple of games to go but the Tigers are determined to do all they can to win those and move up into a higher division.
