WELLINGTON scored 48 points at home to Topsham in Regional Two South West this afternoon (Sat) but still lost out to the Devon outfit.

Topsham won 51-48 after scoring a crucial penalty towards the end.

Wellington led only once in the game - 15-12 in the first half - but the Devon side, promoted at the end of last season, always seem to have a answer and quickly opened up a 21-point lead.

It was a thrilling game to watch with both sides playing open rugby.

Wellington scored seven tries with Cam Venn leading the spree with two, the others coming from Ash Harney, Danny Lee, Chris Batts, James Clist and Rob Hooper who also kicked five conversions and a penalty.
