WELLINGTON Bowling Club’s Pumas have been bowling well for most of the season in division 7 of the Exeter & District Over 60s League but they ran into trouble at home against South Molton.

Andrew Pearce, Geoff Stamp and skip Tony Gibson did all they could but South Molton were just too strong on the day, winning easily 27-7.

Brian Wombwell, Arthur Carter and skip Bill Warnett enjoyed a closer game. They were leading 13-10 after fourteen ends but their opponents picked up a five in the last end but one and hung on for for a close win 19-14.

The overall score at the end of play was South Molton 46, Wellington Pumas 21.

Despite their loss in this game, Pumas are in fourth place in the division with one more match to play. Unfortunately. they are 19 points behind second placed Culm Vale, so promotion is not a possibility this season but they are only five points behind Taunton Deane Falcons. This means third place hangs on the result of the final games these two teams play.

Regardless of the result, it has still been a good season for Pumas.
