WELLINGTON A, promoted at the end of last season, crashed to a 6-4 defeat against Staplegrove Reserves on the new 3G pitch at Court Fields School in the Premier Division of the West Country Drainage Services Taunton & District Saturday Football League.
Wellington's joint player manager Warren Toth described Wellington's display in the 20 minutes leading up to half time as 'terrible.'
"They scored four times during this period - that's where we lost the game," he said. "We let our heads drop - we started arguing with each other. It lost us the game."
Wellington A, who won the first division title last season, led 1-0 and 2-1 in the first half before Grove hit back to go 5-2 up at the interval. Wellington managed to score another in the second half but by then the damage had been done.
Scorers for Wellington were Connor Porter, man-of-the-match Tom Scarlett, Sean Conway and Jordan Sellick.
Wellington will be hoping to get back to winning ways on Saturday, September 14, when they play away to Galmington, who have made a similar start to their rivals - one win, one loss.
The early leaders of the division are North Petherton who have six points from their opening two matches.
