THE Ladies of Wellington Bowling club beat North Petherton in the quarter finals of the Fear Plate, a county competition, winning on two of the three rinks and by 61 shots to 52 overall.

June Anderson, Thelma Helps, Lynda Manning and skip Christine Willcocks won their match 25-12. Also pulling out a good win were the team of Marguerite Nichols, Liz May, Ann Cowling and skip Brenda Wilson who won by 24 shots to 17. The final rink of Lisa Dart, Wendy Scott, Angie Moore and skip Gill Groves were up against a strong team and went down 12-23.

Wellington now face Clevedon in the semi-finals and the tie will be staged at a neutral ground (Taunton Deane) on Sunday. August 4.

Meanwhile, Wellington Ladies took on Yeovil in the Somerset League South - and went down 52-39.

This league consists of three triples. The team of Lisa Dart, Tracey Richbell and Gill Groves won their match 15-9. Pat Bridger, Janet Moore and Brenda Wilson also played exceptionally well and ran out winners 19-10.

Unfortunately, Janet Lovell, Angie Moore and Marguerite Nichols came up against a very strong team and were beaten heavily 33-5.
