WELLINGTON Ladies bounced back from a heavy defeat to beat Crewkerne Ladies 2-1 away in Division Three South of the Somerset Women’s Football League.
It was Wellington who took an early lead. Ash Grabham-White netted the opener on 15 minutes, assisted by Tash Hole, who made her return after being sidelined last season due to a nasty injury.
Starting out of position in defence, Tash made a brilliant run forward, threading the ball through to Ash, who finished expertly.
Chloe Walker went close to scoring again, hitting the crossbar. Adele Bamford also had a couple of strong runs but was forced off in the 42nd minute after a collision with the Crewkerne keeper.
Charlotte Holder and Lucy Troake came on, and Wellington went into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.
In the second half, Wellington continued with fresh legs on the pitch. Charlotte Holder provided the assist for Tash Hole's well-taken goal, extending Wellington's lead. However, there were moments when Wellington were slow to close down the ball.
One crucial moment came which left Wellington exposed with all players caught in the attacking half. Crewkerne's striker took advantage, making a free run from the halfway line to pull a goal back for Crewkerne.
Wellington’s Player of the match: Tash Hole.
