YEOVIL Whirlwinds were excellent hosts as Wellington Khaki Sox looked forward to another exciting baseball double header.

Second-placed Khaki Sox notched up 6 runs in the first innings with big hits from Harrison Sanchez bringing home 2 players and Jamie Cox bringing home 3 more.

With a strikeout from first game pitcher Halin Anibal Rivas and 2 run outs, Whirlwinds were held at 3 runs in the first innings.  Excellent base stealing and another big hit to left field, this time from Martin James bringing home another 2 runners, helped gain a further five runs.

With more excellent pitching, dispatching 3 players in quick succession in the 3rd innings, and fast agile fielding from Khaki Sox, including a tag out from catcher Martin James and Jamie Pollard skilfully defending first base, Whirlwinds were held at 5 runs by the end of the 4th innings.

Second half saw rookie Jenny Bell take to the field for this first time, and was cool as a cucumber when faced with the Whirlwinds pitcher.

Both teams were dismissed in the 4th innings without a single run but both made up for it in the 5th with Khaki Sox taking another 5 runs and Whirlwinds fighting back with 4 runs.

The score was 21:11 to Khaki Sox going in to the final innings which remained unchanged allowing Khaki Sox to take the win and a well earned lunch break.

In a heart-pounding showdown that had the, somewhat limited, fans on the edge of their seats, the Khaki Sox emerged victorious over the Yeovil Whirlwinds by a score of 10-9. A change of pitcher and catcher on both sides to kick off prepped the teams ready for another exciting game.The Sox jumped out to an early lead thanks to a clutch outfield hit by Martin James that brought in two runs. Jamie Cox leading the pitching for Sox to a good start. The Whirlwinds quickly responded, tying the game with a pair of runs of their own.

As the game progressed, the pitching changed hands for Sox with both Harrison Sanchez and Alex Roberts taking to the mound. Yeovil managed to seize control with a few timely hits, but the Sox refused to back down. Alex Roberts ignited a rally with a triple, including a 4 base run, sparking a comeback that tied the game at six.

The back-and-forth battle continued, with both teams trading runs. In the end, it was the Khaki Sox who pulled away with a three-run advantage in the sixth inning.  Inning number 7, being the last, the Whirlwinds stepped up to bat looking to take the lead. Despite a late rally by the Whirlwinds, the Sox held on for the thrilling one-run victory 10-9 with an innings in hand.
