WELLINGTON will be looking to play their first match in four weeks when they entertain Mousehole in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League tomorrow (Sat, 2p.m.).

Wellington, who drew twice with the Cornish side last season, include Nathan Byrne, a talented left-sided midfielder, in their line-up. Byrne was a regular in Wellington’s side last season before going off to university. He has not played since and has just recovered from injury.

Wellington were due to play at home to Ilfracombe last Saturday but the game had to be postponed because of snow and frost.

“There was no question as to whether it should or should not have been played,” said joint manager Alex Pope this week. “The decision was made at about 10am.and in good time to prevent Ilfracombe from travelling.

“The lads are looking forward and relishing the challenge against Mousehole who are fourth and have lost only once this season. We have more or less a full squad available which means we will have to leave out players. This would have been the case last week.”

Meanwhile Wellington Reserves, whose game away to University 3rds was also called off last weekend because of the bad weather, are away to Teignmouth Reserves who are lying fifth from bottom in Division One of the Devon and Exeter League. Wellington are sixth.

Wellington A, who put up a spirited fight before losing 4-3 away to high-flyers Galmington in the Premier Division of the Britannia Lanes Taunton Saturday League last weekend, play at home to 100 per cent leaders Wembdon who have won all nine of their games. Wellington, on the other hand, are bottom, having lost nine of their ten league fixtures.

Hemyock, six points clear at the top of Division Three in the D & E League, are away to Exeter outfit Broadclyst who are lying ninth.

Wellington Ladies are home to Banwell in Division One of the Somerset Women’s League on Sunday (2p.m.) but Division South tabletoppers Wellington Wildcats are without a game.

There is a full programme of matches in the Taunton Saturday, Somerset Sunday and Taunton Youth.
