Wellington Tennis Club held a 12-hour tennis marathon to raise money to complete the construction of their third court just before the Coronavirus crisis took hold.

More than 70 adult and junior members, along with parents and relatives, took part with play starting at 7am.

So far the club have raised in excess of £1,300, which will help them complete the final stage of the build – laying the final layer of specialised Tarmac and lining the court.

Organiser Sue Rackley said: “I’d like to thank all the adult and junior members for giving up their time to play and getting so much sponsorship from their families and friends.

“I’d like to acknowledge the generous donations from local businesses – Tredwin’s Funeral Director, C&C Carpets, King’s Cycles, Quantock Funeral Directors, Amicus Law and Blackdown Family Law.”
