WELLINGTON Squash and Racketball Club has undergone some major refurbishments.
The club was founded in 1973 when the sports centre in Corams Lane was first opened but they decided to build their own facility a few years later.
By the early 1980s there were over 180 members and the club had three men's teams and one ladies team in the Somerset Squash league.
However, over the years squash has lost some of its impetus and the club now has about 60 members.
Work started in August 2023 and was completed in three months. The club is now a well insulated and water tight building with two exceptional courts, changing facilities, bar and viewing area.
The club runs two men's teams in the Somerset Squash league.
The club is proud to say it has an England ladies masters champion, Natalie Lawrence, as one of the members.
More recently Mike Harris has joined the club. Mike is a national champion at racketball.
Mike has also played top level squash and reached 115th in the world rankings and is available for coaching sessions at the club.
The club has another coach, Andy Anderson.
Details of the club can be found on the website www.wellingtonsquashandracketballclub.co.uk.
