WELLINGTON Squash and Racketball Club teams were back in action in the Somerset League on Monday following the half term break.

The first team were home against Street 2. With their two top players Natalie Lawrence and James Wilkie unable to play and regular no.5 Tom Hendy away for a few months, regular stand-in Chris Short and Elen Turner stood in and the team secured a good win.

Barry Bartram at 1 won 15-6, 15-9, 15-4; Andrew Carpenter at 2 won 15-8, 15-12, 15-8; Mike Broom at 3 won 14-16, 9-15, 15-4, 15-11, at which point his opponent declared he was carrying a hip problem and was unable to continue so Mike was declared winner of game 5; Chris Short at 4 lost 15-17, 14-16, 11-15; Elen Turner at 5 won 15-12, 15-11, 8-15, 15-10. Result: Wellington 15 Street 6.

The second team were away at King's College. Simon Buttars at 1 lost 15-11,13-15, 15-5, 6-15, 8-15; Tessa Harris won 15-10, 15-8, 15-12; James Pill-Waring at 3 won 15-12, 14-16, 18-16, 15-8; Dan Keywood at 4 won 14-16, 15-10, 15-9, 15-8 and Ed Barret at 5 lost 14-16, 10-15, 10-15. Result: King's 8 Wellington 14.
