WELLINGTON’S first team gained a resound victory over Kings College, winning 18-0 to stay top of Division Two in the Somerset Squash Autumn League on Monday night.

Barry Bartram at 1 won 15/9, 15/7, 15/7. James Wilkie at 2 won 15/1, 15/9, 15/10. Andrew Carpenter at 3 won 15/11, 15/12, 15/11. Mike Broom at 4 won 15/11, 15/8, 15/8 and Keith Dancey at 5 won 15/9, 15/9, 15/10.

This victory enabled Wellington to stay 13 points ahead of main title rivals Weston who have a crucial game in hand. The two sides meet at Wellington on January 6 which could be a Division 2 crunch match.

Wellington’s second team were away against Wyvern 5. David Thorne at 1 lost 15-9, 10-15, 8/15, 15/7, 11/15. Tessa Harris at 2 lost 14-16, 11-15, 9/15. James Pill-Waring at 3 lost 9/15, 4/15, 10/15. Ed Barrett at 4 won 16/14, 7/15, 7/15, 15/12, 15/11 and Elen Turner at 5 won 15/10, 15/8, 15/10.

The final score was Wyvern 14 Wellington 8.The next round of league matches are on January 6.
