SPLIT Pins are the new holders of Wellington Ladies Skittles League’s KO Cup after beating Land Girls by 31 pins in the final at the Football Club on Monday.
Bev Jones top scored with 61 for Split Pins who led by 22 pins at the half-way stage. Land Girls never recovered from poor opening hands of 49 and 51. Scores: Land Girls 337, Split Pins 368.
Meanwhile, league matches resume next Monday, March 3, with only two more weeks of action to complete the season.
Jolly Blues, who have already clinched the league title following an outstanding winter in which they have lost only one game, play at home to Pin & Tonics who are lying seventh in the table. They have won 16 of their 18 league games.They end their season with an away game against Geronimo (9th).
Land Girls, who need one more victory to clinch the runners-up spot, are away to sixth-placed Muppets next Monday, while Split Pins, in third spot, are home to former champions All Blacks
.Bottom side Wanderers, who have won only four of their 18 matches this winter, have a basement battle against LOA Spare and end the season with an away fixture against All Blacks.
