WELLINGTON RFC U16s played Minehead in their first game of 2025. With Minehead sitting two places above them in the league Wellington were delighted with their 50-29 victory.
The first half was a tight affair with Max McPhail scoring the first try, driving over form short range. Minehead then scored two tries before Archie Austin scored a well worked try. Brock Vallance landed the conversion to make it 12-12 at half time.
Ollie Owen scored the first try of the secondhalf converted by Charlie Taylor. Minehead though wouldn't lie down and hit back again before Jonah Richardson scored another to make it 24 - 17.
Jonah Kyle then caught the kick off and ran back 50m to be held up just short. Ben Briddon then intercepted a pass in the ensuing panic and put Ollie Owen in for his second, Taylor again converting.
Wellington now started to go through the gears with a Jonah Richardson try form a clever cross kick by Brock Vallance. Richardson then scored his third before Owen Parker hit a great line to score under the posts, the later converted by Taylor to make it 50 - 17. Minehead though didn't give up and scored two late tries to make the final score 50 to 29.
