WELLINGTON’S rugby boys end a fortnight’s enforced break with a home game against Saltash in Western Counties West on Saturday (2.30).
Wellington, who beat the Cornish side 26-6 away earlier this season, found themselves without a fixture on Saturday despite travelling to play bottom side Paignton.
Wellington coach Allyn Chetland explained: “We were actually going through the motions of the warm-up when word came through that the referee had been involved in a road accident.
“Fortunately he was not hurt but he did not get to the game and all efforts to find a replacement failed. It’s one of those things which you cannot do anything about.
“Although we beat Saltash away they have improved since then - but then so have we. I believe we have been improving all the time.”
Wellington expect to field a full strength side with the lads who went skiing returning and Will Brewer and Rob Hooper back in contention.
Unfortunately, the three teams above Wellington - Sidmouth, St Austell and Crediton - all won over the weekend which means they have widen the gap.
