WELLINGTON’S 100 per cent home record this season will be at stake when they play top of the table St Austell in South West One (W) at the Athletic Ground tomorrow (Sat, 3 p.m.).

Wellington’s season since being promoted has been very much up and down. They have beaten Sidmouth, Old Patesians and North Petherton on their own patch but have been suffered heavy defeats at Devon Services (last weekend) and Chew Valley.

“We’ve had a real problem in fielding a settled side,” said Wellington coach Allyn Chetland. “There have been very few players who have played in all seven of our games.

“We have a similar problem for the St Austell game and we’ve little idea who will be available until after training although Rob Hooper, Cam Venn and Nev Pitman will all be back after missing the game at Devonport.

“We did not start or finish very well at Devonport,” added Chetland. “We played some good rugby in the first half. You could not fault our endeavour - but everything we tried did not come off.

“But you cannot take anything away from Devonport. They are a very good side and have only lost once this season.”

Wellington, who are lying fifth in the table, are expecting another big crowd for tomorrow’s game against St Austell who are averaging 30-plus points a game.

“We are always looking to tighten our defence and that’s something we will be working on in training this week,” added Chetland

Meanwhile Wiveliscombe, who won 19-0 at Falmouth in Western Counties West last weekend, are also home - to neighbours Tiverton who are lying tenth (3 p.m.).

Even though Falmouth are struggling this season, a clean sheet on any away ground is quite an achievement.

Wellington 2nd XV have no match tomorrow while Wiveliscombe 2nd XV are away to fifth-placed Somerton in Somerset Two South.
