TITLE-CHASING Wellington end their season in the Cornwall and Devon League with four successive games at the Athletic Ground, writes Barry Knott.
And they will be looking to extend their winning run to 19 matches when they play Bude on Saturday (3.00).
Wellington showed they mean business again over the weekend when they beat Pirates Amateurs 70-12 away with Nev Pitman going over for four tries.
“The boys are buzzing at the moment,” admitted Wellington coach Allyn Chetland. “We were a little slow to start with but that’s understandable after a three and a half hour trip.
“It’s our longest journey of the season and you’ve still got your legs on the bus at the start.
“We now need to plod on and prepare for our game against Bude. It’s all above focussing on the next match, not the following three. We mustn’t look too far ahead.”
Wellington go into Saturday’s game with a six-point lead over second-placed Penryn, both teams having played the same number of games.
Saltash are lying third in the table, 14 points adrift of Wellington, but they have two matches in hand.
Bude are lying fifth in the table and will be looking to avenge a 27-21 home defeat by Wellington earlier this season. .
