ROCKWELL Green Shortmat Bowls Club welcomed Kingsmead for a four-mat 10 ends friendly with the visitors looking for revenge for a loss at Bradford on Tone recently.
To start things off (Green names first) Lauraine, John St & Reg met Steven, Paul & Martin. Things started well for the home trio who were 4-0 ahead after two ends. The Green only managed three more shots over the next eight ends, going down 15-7.
Mick, Sid & John Y had a very absorbing game against David C, David G & Vickie. The visitors got into a 6-3 lead after seven ends but the Green hit back to win a good contest 7-6. The Green were 21-14 down at the break.
Back playing again Joy, Dave D & Bob led 8-2 but Kingsmead fought back but the Green trio held on to win 8-7.
Last of the evening saw John G, Bill & Brian against Di, Paul & Martin. The Green trio got off to a brilliant start going into a 11-1 lead but the visitors recovered and took the last 3 ends to make a respectable score line 11-8 in favour of the Green .
It was a very enjoyable evening spent with like minded people enjoying their hobby. Final score Kingsmead 36, the Green 33.
