ROCKWELL Green Short Bowls Club welcomed Staplegrove to the village hall - the Green’s third match in six days.

First up (Green names first): Joy, Reg & John Y faced Heather, Pat & Sue. The Green took control of the game leading 6-3 after 7 ends and although the visitors pulled back shots they went down 7-5.

Next to play Cedric, John S & Mike R gave no quarter to Rose, Steve & David, going into an 8-2 lead after 6 ends. Staplegrove started a fight back, taking 3 of the last 4 ends for a final score, Green 9, Staplegrove 6. Green led 16-11 at the break.

The restart saw John G, Bill & Cass against Peter, Rose & Sue in what proved to be the closest game. Staplegrove led 5-1  at the halfway stage. The Green fought back to be 9-5 up before winning 9-8.

.Last up Graham, Dave D & Bob were in a hard-fought game with Carol, Steve & David. With shots being traded on each end it was 4--4 after 6 ends. The home trio then ​​scraped 3 of the last 4 ends for a undeserved 10-5 win.

While the Green won 35--24 it was not a true reflection of the match since with a little luck it could have gone in Staplegrove's favour. ​
