ROCKWELL Green Shortmat bowls team gained a 41-25 home win over Staplegorve.

First up (Green names first): Mick, Sid & John Y met Pat, Suzie & Sue. The first 5 ends were tight level at 3 square  but Rockwell eventually won 13-6..

Next to do combat were Graham, Dave D & Reg against Bernie, Keith & Paul in what proved to be a very tight contest which ended 8-8. Rockwell led 21-14 at tiebreak.

Up next Cass, John St & Mike  faced Dave S, Heather & Paul. The visitors held a one shot lead after 5 ends but the Green trio took the next 4 ends to lead by 10-3.  Staplegrove took the last end but went down 10-5   

Last of the evening John G, Bill & Brian met Bernie, Keith & Sue (the two club captains against each other).  The Green trio proved to be too hot for the Staplegrove trio, racing into a 8-3 lead, then 9-3 after 8 ends. There was a slight recovery by the visitors, taking a 3 on end 9. The Green took the last end for a comfortable  10-6  victory.

What could only be described as a very entertaining while the final score 41—25 in the Green’s favour was rather by the way - a very pleasant evening of bowls .
