WELLINGTON Reds, the cricketing section of Wellington CC, kept up the pressure at the top of the second division in the Taunton Saturday Football League, with a 6-0 win over Watchet Town Reserves at the Playing Field.
It was their fifth successive victory and enabled them to pull off the double against their rivals.
Playing only yards from the cricketing wicket, Reds won the game with six different scorers - Ben Evett, Ollie Ransom, Aaron Hill, Arron Campbell, Jake Wych and Liam Oaten - after leading 4-0 at the interval.
However, newcomers to the league Dunwear United stay one point clear of the Reds at the top of the table after winning 3-0 away to Minehead Colts, who led the division earlier this season.
With Dunwear not playing this coming weekend, Reds will go above their rivals into the top spot if they win away to Bridgwater and Albion RFC Reserves who have won only one of their 14 matches this season.
After this weekend, Reds have only two more matches in which to make sure of finishing as champions in what has been a good season for the cricket boys.
