FOR THE first time a group of bowlers from Wellington Bowling Club went on an outdoor bowls tour to Torquay.
On the way to Torquay they stopped at Abbrook Park Bowling Club, KIngsteignton, to play six matches of triples.
Abbrook proved strong opposition but Ian Stewart, Liz May and Nick Channon were the most successful and claimed the prize at the evening presentation. Also winning their match were Steve Lovell, Pat Bridger and Alan May.
The next day the bowlers travelled the short distance to Paignton. Again the opposition proved to be strong but Henry Richbell, Andy Pearce and Janet Lovell were the most successful Wellington team. Also winning their match were Tracey Richbell, Brian Wombwell and Dave Bridger.
On the Wednesday, Brixham Bowling Club were the hosts. Andy Pearce, Suzanne Worth and Steve Lovell performed the best of the Wellington bowlers.
On the last day of the tour the match was at Torquay. This time Eddie Dilley, Liz May and Henry Richbell claimed the last prize of the tour.
Each evening, the most successful team was presented with their prizes and, this time, instead of wooden spoons, little coloured ducks were given out to the least successful team. Thanks go to Steve Lovell for once again doing the organising.
