AFTER an enforced break of a fortnight, Wellington side Moortown will be back in action this coming weekend when they play away to Black Swan in the second round of the Somerset Sunday Football League's Gardner Cup at Langport and Huish Episcopi Memorial Field (Oct 13).

It will be the second meeting of the sides this season, the teams having fought out a 1-1 draw in a first division game at Wellington in mid-September.

Black Swan were the outstanding side of the third division last season, losing only one match in winning the title. They were promoted to the first division, while Division Three was scrapped.

Moortown was formed five years ago by Jojo and Gerry Conway to provide Sunday football in the town.

"It's a family-run club and I think we have been very successful, winning the KO Cup a couple of seasons ago," said Jojo, a former player with the Wellington club.

"The town used to have three or four Sunday teams but we're the only one now. The side is made up of all local players - and it can be difficult at times," added Jojo who runs Conway Cladding Ltd, who are keen sponsors of sports events in the town.
