WELLINGTON side Moortown lost 4-0 away to early leaders Trinity Rangers in the first division of the Somerset Sunday Football League.
The match was certainly not as one sided as the score might suggest. Moortown, missing a number of key players, put up a spirited performance against a strong Rangers side.
The game changed after 25 minutes when Rangers finally broke through the Moortown defence and a powerful shot produced a stunning save by Dan Capp. Unfortunately the rebound fell to a Rangers foot and despite getting a hand to the ball Clapp could not keep the ball from crossing the line.
Trinity were now in control and five minutes later made it two nil with a fine goal. Half time arrived with the score at two nil.
Moortown started strongly in the second half but were caught on the break after only two minutes to make it three nil. With ten minutes left following a challenge on Ben Evett Moortown appealed for a penalty which was turned down by the ref. Trinity broke from this and scored a well taken fourth and final goal.
Moortown manager Jojo Conway said that all the players should be proud of their perfomamce. Man of the match for Moortown was Jake Nichols.
