THE Spring Caravan Chaos race will be the headline event at Smeatharpe Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday. Several caravans will be towed to oblivion in one of the most spectacular and explosive races of the season. The first event on a packed schedule will be the Grand Parade at 12.45pm. Ahead of the caravan race, there is a full programme of races for Formula Two Stock Cars, National Bangers and Bangers. The top prize for the Formula Two Stock Cars will be the From Five Star To Five Jobs Trophy, which is raced for in memory of Duncan Pike, a long-serving official at Smeatharpe.

Having grown up in nearby Churchinford, Pike became involved with Smeatharpe Stadium when it opened in 1974, and remained an integral part of each promotion that has staged racing there in the subsequent decades, before he was struck down with illness in 2022. The trophy references Pike's connection to Five Star Promotions who staged racing at Smeatharpe from 1974 to 1994 inclusive, to his latter day involvement, jokingly referred to as 'five jobs', such was the abundance of his roles.

Matt Stoneman of Uffculme was the winner when it was first raced in May 2023, fittingly becoming the first driver to lift the remarkable reward.
