STUART Kittow notched up his first winner of the 2024-25 National Hunt season when Cornish Storm won at Taunton under David Noonan, going off 5-6 favourite.
The top weight six year old bay gelding was carrying seven pound more than the second placed Joe Tizzard trained Blacksamssenorita.
Cornish Storm was at the front from the start and although under pressure at times, two out drew away to win the two miles and half a furlong maiden hurdle race comfortably by two and a quarter lengths.
Stuart, who is based at Haynefield Farm, Blackborough, Devon, up on the Blackdown Hills, has 20 horses in his yard and predominantly trains for the flat.
Among the facilties at Stuart’s yard is a straight, gently sloping six5 furlong uphill woodchip gallop, a 6 furlong grass gallop running along side the woodchip gallop.
There are schooling facilities on both the grass and the all weather enclosed circuit. There is a lunge pit, 5 bay horse walker, starting stalls and numerous turnout paddocks to enable horses to be turned out after exercise to relax.
Haynesfield Farm also has a licensed isolation barn away from the main yard, enabling new horses to be stabled separately for a quarantine period before joining the main yard.
In 2024 he enjoyed his best ever year during which he sent out 18 winners on the flat and enjoyed a purple patch in early July when he saddled three winners in as many days. Stuart also had 44 of his horses placed.
