IN WHAT turned out to be a physical showdown, Wellington Town Under 12s turned the tide in the second half to claim a thrilling 4-2 victory over visiting Bridgwater Wolves in Division Two of the Taunton & District Youth League.
Wellington Town found themselves trailing 1-0 just before halftime. However, the tide turned shortly after the break when Cass Letten delivered a stunning equaliser with a well-placed shot into the corner of the net, making it 1-1.
The momentum shifted further as Wellington took the lead again thanks to forward Charlie McAlpine, who capitalised on a poor clearance.
But Wolves weren’t done yet, quickly responding to level the score again. With just 10 minutes remaining, Cass Letten displayed his skills by weaving through defenders into the box, only to be brought down, resulting in a penalty.
Captain Freddie Andrews stepped up and confidently converted the penalty, putting Wellington ahead 3-2. Not satisfied with just the lead, Cass Letten made another electrifying run in the final two minutes of play, facing a foul in the box once more. Once again, it was Freddie Andrews who took charge, scoring his second penalty of the match to secure a 4-2 victory for Wellington. The result puts Wellington joint top after two games.
