WELLINGTON Rugby Club held their Past Players' annual meeting and first lunch of the season before Saturday's home game against Wadebridge Camels.
Club chairman Gareth Hodgson said in the match-day programme: "If you listen carefully, above the creaks of arthritic hips and groans of aching knee joints, you'll hear incredible stories of exceptional playing ability, which you'll struggle to believe, and tremendous drinking tales, which are likely to be much more genuine!
He added: "Andy Chalker has done a fantastic job in corralling so many former players in one place, using email, Instagram, Whatsapp and carrier pigeon."
The ex-players went on to watch a tremendous game between Wellington and Wadebridge in Regional Two South West.
It ended in a 40-38 victory for Wellington who were trailing 38-19 at one stage in the second half before fighting back, scoring three converted tries in the last 20 minutes.
However, Wadebridge missed a chance of winning the game in the last few seconds - but full back Owen Wilson fluffed a kickable penalty - much to the delight of the home crowd.
It was Wellington's second thrilling home victory of the season, having beaten Cullompton in their opening league match with two late tries a fortnight ago. If you want excitement the Athletic Ground's the place to be!
